Prerequisite(s): MAT1033 and satisfactory completion of Developmental Reading II (REA0017 ), or appropriate placement scores.
This is an introduction to database systems. Emphasis will be on the concept of information as a corporate resource and the importance of managing this resource. Topics covered include a comparison of databases with traditional file systems, related database concepts, introduction to structured query language (SQL), database design using entity relationship models and database normalization.
