This course covers the legal and ethical aspects of healthcare. Issues related to health information management are emphasized. Covers state and federal laws relating to healthcare, legal terminology, confidentiality, access and release of information, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), tracking of disclosed information, liability, subpoenas, depositions, consent, and authorization guidelines and privacy.
