Sonography Certificate (4002)

Program Purpose:
To prepare students to become sonographers who can perform safely and effectively as members of the healthcare team. Sonographers perform technical procedures necessary to produce diagnostic sonograms. Upon completion of this program and completion of required clinical experiences, graduates are eligible to take the examinations of the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers and/or the specialty examination of the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.

Employment Types:
Sonographers are employed by hospitals, clinics and private diagnostic practices.

Program Length:
42 credit hours

Admission Requirements:
Applicants to the Sonography certificate program must complete all admission requirements to the College and have an overall GPA of at least 2.50. Applicants must hold a minimum of an associate degree in a clinically based healthcare profession (e.g. Registered Nursing, EMS, Dental Hygiene, Respiratory Care, Radiologic Technology, Nuclear Medicine, Surgical Technology) from a regionally accredited institution and hold the appropriate current, unencumbered license and/or certification.
