NUR2260C Nursing Concepts II

This course is the second of four Nursing Concepts courses. It builds upon the basic principles of nursing presented in  ,  ,   and  , as well as knowledge from all prerequisite courses. The focus of this course is disorders and conditions common to the general population, the knowledge and understanding of which is essential for safe nursing practice. Concepts include the orthopedic, integumentary (skin), muscular, neurological, sensory and gastrointestinal systems. The use of the nursing process provides a framework for student learning and encourages critical thinking. Geriatric and nutritional considerations will be included. Lab experience will reinforce basic and intermediate skills presented in   and   and present additional intermediate and advanced skills. Clinical experience will provide opportunities for the student to apply knowledge in the acute care setting. Lecture: 45 hours; Lab/simulation/clinical: 90 hours. Does not count toward A.A. degree.
