CGS2540 Database Concepts

Prerequisite(s): documented exemption, appropriate placement test scores or completion of developmental education reading, writing and mathematics.
This is an introduction to database systems. Emphasis will be on the concept of information as a corporate resource and the importance of managing this resource. Topics covered include a comparison of databases with traditional file systems, related database concepts, introduction to structured query language (SQL), database design using entity relationship models and database normalization.
