Nurse Assistant, PSAV Certificate (5024)


Program Purpose:
To prepare students to serve as entry-level healthcare workers, specifically as nurse assistants. To prepare students to serve safely and effectively as part of the healthcare team.

Successful program completers are eligible to take the state certification test for nursing assistants.

Employment Types:
Nurse assistant in hospital or other healthcare facility.

Program Length:
120 clock hours

Admission Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or GED diploma
  • Pass Level 1 background check at student expense
  • Pass drug screen at student expense
  • Immunizations/screening
    • Seasonal flu vaccine (when it becomes available)
    • Current negative TB screening (PPD test)
    • Two immunizations for MMR (measles, mumps and rubella) or a positive titer
    • Two immunizations for varicella (chicken pox) or positive titer or proof of history of disease
  • Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification from the American Heart Association or the American Red Cross. No other course will be accepted. Course must be hands-on, not online. At student expense.

Program Application:
Applicants must submit both a general TCC application and a Nurse Assistant program application by 5 p.m. on the published deadline.

Note: Students pay for background and drug screening. Additional fees may be required for any third-party or court access costs and for CPR certification, books and uniforms.
